Advisory Group Guidelines (as of 2 June 2020)

The Fernandina Beach Pickleball Pirates is an informal group of people who like to play pickleball at the Central Park Courts.

 

The Ambassador is a USAPA vetted individual who is a volunteer representative and unofficial spokesperson for the USAPA for the Amelia Island area.  Her/his primary responsibility is to promote and grow the sport of pickleball.

 

An Advisory Group will consist of six (6) members, in addition to the Ambassador.  The mission of the Advisory Group shall be to promote the development and growth of pickleball and embrace the values of good sportsmanship.  In addition, the Advisory Group shall:

 

  1. Assist with Scheduled Group Play by opening and closing Blue equipment boxes; explaining player rotation method to waiting players; and promoting good behavior at the courts;

  2. Assist with running tournaments, fund-raising, organizing, merry-making, and special events;

  3. Coordinate matters pertaining to the sport of Pickleball within the City of Fernandina Beach with local officials;

  4. Assist with decisions required to promote fair play and good sportsmanship among players; and

  5. Advise the Ambassador and City officials on various aspects of the sport of pickleball.

 

 

Advisory Group Member Requirements:

 

Members of the Advisory Group (“Advisors”) shall:

  1. Attend Advisory Group meetings.  There will be a minimum of three (3) meetings per year, with dates and times determined by needs;

  2. Serve for a term not to exceed two (2) years, running from October 1 through September 30;

  3. Be over 18 years of age;

  4. Be residents of the City of Fernandina Beach;

  5. Not be related through either blood or marriage; and

  6. Current members nominate replacements subject to approval by the Group.

 

Advisors may serve more than one term.

 

Ad-Hoc Members:

 

At the Ambassador’s discretion, ad-hoc members may be added to the Advisory Group for the purpose of providing specialized experience or knowledge.  Ad-hoc members are not required to be residents of the City of Fernandina Beach and will not be voting members of the Advisory Group.
